Changing phase position

This section deals with changing the position of the phases in the phase order.

Phase position

Stepping through phases

When phases are added, they are always added to the end of the list. When the BattleMap is viewed in the slideshow the phases are viewed in the same order they appear on the screen (best viewed in the tree panel to the right of the main screen).

You can change which phase you are viewing by either clicking on the phase in the tree panel you want to jump to or by stepping through the phases using either the 'Phases' menu items or the buttons on the toolbar.

Changing phase positions

However you can change the order of the phases in the list, selecting a particular phase and moving it either earlier in the order (further up the list) of later in the order (further down the list).

There are two ways of doing this. You can use the 'Phases' menu options shown below to move the currently viewed phase back or forward one place in the order. The tree panel is updated accordingly.

Alternatively, you can use the tree panel itself to re-order the phases. Selecting a phase in the tree, then clicking the right mouse button brings up a small, pop-up menu as below.

Selecting 'Move this item up the list' moves the selected phase back one place in the order. Likewise selecting 'Move this item down the list' moves the selected phase forward one place in the order. This can be performed repeatedly to move the phase several places.

For example:

  • If you had added the 4 phases as shown on the right, then decided that the cavalry attack came earlier than the infantry engagement, select phase 4,

  • then right-click with the mouse and select 'move this item up the list, as shown.
  •

  • The cavalry phase has moved earlier in the list. Note however that the text of the title has not changed though. You might want to update it to make more sense (see below).
