Details of opposing sides

This page deals with changing the information and appearance of one of the sides in the Order of Battle.

Once you have selected a side to change, you should see a screen similar to that below :

Information on this side

In this section, you specify first the name you want this side to have. This is used on the legend, if displayed, and in the details in the 'details panel' on screen when a unit is selected (see 'Main screen layout'). It is also used when handouts are created (see 'Creating handouts & printouts').

You can also add the name of the commander of the forces to be included in the documentation, both on-screen and handouts, as above.

Physical appearance

Here, you can choose a uniform appearance for units of this side.

If you choose a colour, then any units you subsequently create for this side will inherit this colour automatically (you can change it later if you wish). This makes it much easier selecting the same shade for each unit. See 'Choosing a colour' for more information on how to do this.

You can also choose a font, text size, style and colour for the labels to be used for units of this side. This means that you can make sure that, for example, Greek Hoplites are labeled in 10 point 'Times Roman' or all British ships of the fleet are labeled with dark blue 12 point Arial text, in italics, should you so wish. See 'choosing fonts and style' for more information on how to do this.

NOTE : If you change any of these appearance settings after you have already begun adding units to the map associated with this side, when you click OK, you will be given the opportunity to automatically update all associated units already created.

Choosing 'yes' makes the changes to existing units, choosing 'no' leaves them alone but saves the new appearance for any newly created units.

Description and notes

Again, this area allows you to document the force, it's composition, origin etc for display in the details panel and handouts. It should be used to give the viewer a context for this side in the conflict.

Closing the window

Clicking 'OK' will save these details, clicking 'cancel' returns the details to the state they were in before opening this window.
