Objects are the items drawn on a phase. Each exists as a separate item in its own right, being listed under the appropriate phase in the tree panel. You can work with them either on-screen, or via the menu option 'Objects' as below.

They are split into two categories, military objects and other objects.
Military objects are complex, pre-designed shapes representing standard or period military symbols.
They should be identified with one of the opposing sides in the Order of battle (see 'Creating an Order of Battle').
You can choose the appearance (colour, label, font etc.) of the unit symbol but it's overall shape is fixed (see 'Changing military objects...'). Additionally each military object can be annotated with details about it, it's commander, composition and history. These details will be available when a viewer is using BattleMaps to interactively view the maps and can be included in the generated handouts (see 'Generating handouts').
'Other types' of object are used for general drawing on the map. They include :
They are available either to draw a background or to add in details to enhance the map. Examples of objects used on the background could be contour lines and freehand shapes to define the terrain and rivers, rectangles to represent buildings, polygons - fortifications etc. Examples of objects being used on phases could be arrows indicating direction of movement, ovals - areas of influence, curves and freehand lines - front lines.
These objects can have any shape required and each object represents a single, simple shape with either an outline, an opaque 'fill' or both. Used together, complex diagrammatic layouts can be created.
Each object, once positioned, can be moved, rotated or re-sized individually (see 'moving, rotating and re-sizing objects'). They can also be duplicated or deleted (see 'Changing, duplicating and removing objects').
