Creating, loading and saving BattleMaps

Creating a new BattleMap.

A BattleMap contains not only the map background but all the information and annotations, phases, objects and images where applicable, all contained in one file (usually with '.bpk' at the end of it).

A new, blank BattleMap is created each time you open the program without specifying a previously created one. If you want to create a new one whilst using the program, either click the toolbar button marked or select the 'BattleMap files' menu option then choose 'create blank..' as shown.

Saving a BattleMap

To save your work, either click on the toolbar button marked or select the 'BattleMap files' menu option then choose 'Save this BattleMap'. The window which then appears will ask you to specify a filename and location for the BattleMap. Choose a place to keep your BattleMaps on your computer, give it an appropriate name and click 'save' as shown below.

 

If you attempt to close the program without saving your work, a window will pop up asking you whether you want to save it before closing.

Loading an existing BattleMap

Loading an existing map either click on the toolbar button marked or select the 'BattleMap files' menu option then choose 'Load an existing BattleMap'. In the window which then appears, find the folder or directory where the existing BattleMap has been stored, select it and click 'open' as shown.

Alternatively, the system remembers the last 4 BattleMaps you worked on and shows them at the bottom of the 'BattleMap files' menu.

To re-open one of them, simply select it from the list.
